Bit-O-Honey Cocktail

The best Bit-O-Honey Cocktail because it is easier to enjoy life with an extra little bit of honey!

Bit-O-Honey has been a bit of a unique kind of candy bar. Although taffy is without a doubt, a delicious candy, it doesn’t typically get referred to as a candy bar. But Bit-O-Honey was first introduced as a candy bar in the 1920s. Six rectangular pieces of taffy with paper to keep them from sticking all lined up in the shape of a candy bar. And it is delicious! Of course you can find Bit-O-Honey candies wrapped up individually as well now. Providing several different ways to continue to enjoy this treat! Its unique flavors of honey and almond combined with a chewy consistency make it stand out in a world filled with so many different candies.

Bit-O-Honey Candies can often be found alongside other individually wrapped candies in old school shops where they sell bulk candy. The kind of shop where they spell it as Shoppe. Or those little souvenir stores where they have the little white bags that you get to fill up and pay for it by the pound. Or if your like me, Amazon is where I got my Bit-O-Honey fix for this drink.

Alright, have I talked up the Bit-O-Honey candy enough to get your mouth watering and ready for the boozy, drinkable version of this old school candy? Ok great! Gather these 4 simple ingredients and make this Bit-O-Honey cocktail. It is a perfect dessert drink for a little extra sugar and a little extra honey in your life! Afterall, like they say, it is easier to catch flies with honey, right?

Ingredients and Barware

1.Irish Whiskey

2.Butterschotch Schnupps

3.Half and Half

4.Honey

5.Bit-O-Honey Candies (optional for garnish. But really, can you make a Bit-O-Honey inspired drink without the guest of honor?)

6.Two low ball glasses

7.Cocktail Shaker

About the Ingredients

Butterschoch Schnupps is known for being a sweet alcohol that contains flavorings of both butter and brown sugar. Just like a butterscotch hard candy. (the kind my grandma used to sneak me from the bottom of her purse as a kid)

Irish Cream is created using a blend of cream and irish whisky to create a chocolatey yet vanilla taste. yum!

Half and Half is simply a mixture of equal parts whole milk and cream. I am pretty sure that is why it’s called half and half. Because it is half milk and half cream.

Honey is made from bees inside of honeycombs. While I may have an irrational fear of bees, I am thankful for them providing this delicious natural sweetener!

How to make (enough for two cocktails)

1.Carefully cut a small slit in two Bit-O-Honey candies about half way through. Carefully pull apart just enough to be able to place on the rim of two low ball glasses without separating into two pieces. (I accidentally pulled my first one apart a little too far so of course, I had to eat that one and start all over.) Fill with ice, set aside.

2.In a cocktail shaker, add ice 4oz irish whisky, 4oz Butterscotch Schnaupps, 40z Half and Half and 1 oz Honey. Shake vigorously until well mixed and chilled.

3.Pour over ice into your Bit-O-Honey garnished low ball glasses

Enjoy Responsibly!
