Girl Scout Thin Mint Shooters to add a little adventure to your night!
I think everyone knows about or has heard of Girl Scouts Cookie Season! Its basically like a holiday at this point. But, not everyone knows as much about the organization that has been doing this fundraiser for over 100 years now.
Girl Scouts of America is a youth organization that has been around for over a century now. While I think just about everyone pictures cookies with they hear the words Girl Scouts, the organization is really so much more then that, With a mission to “build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” the organization provides opportunities and experiences to young girls. Opportunities and experiences that would otherwise likely be out of reach for some.
Their most well known campaign and fund raiser is of course, selling Girl Scout Cookies. While the funds go to support local troops, the annual Girl Scout Cookie sale has additional benefits. The annual event provides girls with the opportunity to learn both entrapurneal as well as business and marketing skills. According to the box, the program enables girls to hear 5 invaluable skills including goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. And everyone comes out with delicious cookies to eat! It really is a win win win program! While the program has changed over the last 100+ years, it is still grounded in the same principles.
So in tribute to this Girl Scout Cookies season, this drink was a must make! While thin mints are admittedly not my favorite Girl Scout Cookie, I have been out voted in my house for as long as I can remember. So, Thin Mint Shooters it is!
Get that familiar green box from your favorite local Girl Scout Cookie dealer and gather up the ingredients. Lets add a little bit of adventure and make these amazing Girl Scout Thin Mint Shooters.
Ingredients and Barware (for 2 shots)
Creme De Menth
Chocolate Liquor
Irish Cream
2 Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies, crushed up in blender or smashed
Chocolate frosting (optional for garnish)
Shot Glasses
Cocktail Shaker
About the Ingredients
Chocolate liqueur is a base liquor with a distinct and often rich chocolate flavor, just like the coating on Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies
Irish Cream is created using a blend of irish whisky and dairy cream to create a chocolatey yet vanilla taste, perfect for a cookie themed drink
Creme De Menth is an alcohol that has a mint flavor to it. While there are brands that make it in a colorless version, it also comes in a green color, matching our Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie box about perfectly!
How to Make
Take two thin mint cookies and blend them or smash them up into small pieces to be used for the rim.
Slowly drag the rim of your shot glasses through the chocolate frosting to get a consistent coating. Then dip the rim into the crushed up Thin Mint cookies. Set aside
In a cocktail shaker, add ice, 1.5 oz Chocolate Liqueur, 1.5 oz Irish Cream and 1 oz Creme De Menth. Shake vigerously until well mixed and chilled
Pour carefully into your rimmed shot glasses
