Milky Way Cocktail because life is better the Milky Way.
Caramel, nougat and chocolate. Seems so simple and yet has a taste that is out of this world. Pun intended, even if it was a bad one. Ok, so maybe I’m a little biased here but Milky Way candy bars are one of my favorites! If you put them in the fridge or freezer, it just takes them to the next level of deliciousness! (Just watch out for your teeth!) And I must not be the only one who really enjoys a Milky Way bar as the delicious combination of caramel nougat and chocolate first made its debut in 1924. Yep, that’s right, that means the delicious candy bar is nearing its centennial celebration in 2024!
Despite Milky Way candy bars being my favorite, I had no idea that in other countries, a Milky Way candy bar is not the same as the Milky Way candy bar that I know and love in the United States. Interestingly enough, the United States version of a Milky Way has caramel included, where in other countries, it is sans caramel. My mind was blown learning that little trivia tid bit. In fact, I actually had to read it twice because, well who doesn’t want more caramel?
Anyways, the Milky Way candy bar title of other countries is what the United States has branded as a 3 Musketeers Bar. Nuggat covered in chocolate. And lets be honest, it is also a delicious chocolate treat. But, at the end of the day, I am a sucker for caramel!
Lets make a deliciously caramel Milky Way Cocktail to enjoy with friends after dinner just because and enjoy life the mikly way!
Ingredients and Barware for 2 Cocktails
Half and Half
Caramel Sauce (optional for rim)
About the Ingredients
Vanilla Vodka is a clear distilled alcoholic drink that has been infused with vanilla to create a distinct vanilla taste
Caramel Vodka is also a clear distilled alcoholic drink but this one has been infused with caramel flavorings. Just what we need for a United States version of the Milky Way Candy Bar Cocktail
Chocolate liqueur is a base liquor with a distinct and often rich chocolate flavor.
Half and Half is a popular bar mix in for dessert and after dinner drinks. It is made from equal part milk and heavy cream.
Caramel Sauce is a thickened sauce with a buttery rich caramel flavor and color and makes a perfect rim for this Milky Way Cocktail.
How to Make
Tip: Having your martini glasses chilled helps keep the caramel sauce from running too much.
1.Rim your Martini Glasses with a light yet consistent layer of Caramel Sauce. Set aside. (Tip: I placed my martini glasses in the freezer upside down on parchment paper after adding the caramel sauce, while I get everything else ready.)
2.In a Cocktail Shaker, add ice, 1.5 oz Vanilla Vodka, 1.5 oz Caramel Vodka, 1.5 oz Chocolate Liqueur and 4 oz Half and Half. Shake vigorously until well mixed and chilled.
3. Add ice to your rimmed Martini Glasses. Pour mixture over ice into rimmed glasses.
