M&M’s Inspired shot, for the candy that melts in your mouth, not your hands.
M&M’s have been around for a long time! They first came out in 1941 and man has their line of M&Ms expanded over the years. While it’s no secret that M&Ms now have an expansive line up of delicious chocoloate candies including peanut, caramel and browine to just name a few, there are a few facts about M&M’s that I didnt know!
For instance, did you know that M&M’s original candies have been in space? Not only have they been in space but they were the first candy in space! M&Ms are clearly a high visibility candy! They have even been the official snack food of the Olympic Games! They even now allow you to customize what is on each actual M&M piece of candy to make for a perfect birthday or wedding or gift for any occasion really for that person in your life who has everything.
While all of these things about M&M’s candies are true and some of them I knew and others I just found out thanks to their website, the reason this shot got added to my list of recipies to make is honestly pretty plain and simple. They are delicious! My son came home with a tube of mini M&M’s the other day. I asked for one, and before I knew it, I had a big giant container of them added to my shopping list. I have no regrets! And since I had the candy already I thought to myself, heck, lets make a drink with them! And so that’s what we did!
Make an M&M’s Inspired Shot to add a little color and fun to your day with the candy that melts in your mouth and not your hands! (that is unless you’re a young child holding on to your precious candy, protecting it from your siblings. In which case, I can confirm they 100% do melt in your hands!)
Ingredients and Barware for 2 Shots
Chocolate Vodka
M&M’s candies (the plain ones but full size or mini will work here) smashed up for rim
2 Shot Glasses
Cocktail Shaker
Chocolate Frosting for rim
About the Ingredients
Frangelico is a hazelnut flavored with a very sweet taste that comes from Italy
Chocolate Vodka is vodka with a silkey smooth chocolate flavor; exactly what is needed for an M&M inspired shot!
M&M’s Minis, the original M&M candies, only about half the size! You can think I am crazy but they really seem to taste better to me than the full size. Plus, I love little mini things! They are also so cute!
How to Make
1.Take the rim of your shot glasses and run them through the Chocolate Frosting to get a consistent coating. Dip the rim into crushed M&M’s Candies again getting a consistent rim.
2.In a cocktail shaker, add ice 1.5 oz Frangelico and 1.5 oz Chocolate Vodka. Shake until well mixed and chilled.
3. Pour into rimmed shot glasses.
Garnish Tips
While this shot doesn’t have a garnish, here is a tip for the rim. To smash your M&M candies, place several into a zipper sealed bag. place inside a towel, gently use a meat tendorizer to smash the candies. Pour on to a plate so you can easily dip your frosted rim.
