It’s hard to believe my favorite monsters first made their appearance on the big screen over 20 years ago! I’m not sure if it’s hard to believe because that means this 90’s child is now an adult. Or if it’s hard to believe because this adult still enjoys watching the movie!
Disney Pixar’s Monster’s Inc. has been my go to Halloween movie for years. It is the perfect not so scary monster movie for a giant scardy cat like myself. Plus, the friendship between Mike and Sully is one to strive for. Not only are they friends but also two of the best team mates. Friends and team mates who, working together, achieve their goals. Even if it doesn’t happen exactly the way they had planned it to. They also celebrate with each other their wins. They utilize their differences to compliment each other and it works!
Disney and Pixar never cease to amaze me. They have this ability to capture multiple generations growing up or who grew up in very different times. As an adult, the lessons really stick out to me. Like with Monsters Inc. finding a new path to achieve your desired result if the first one doesn’t work out. Things rarely go the way we plan them out to. But that’s ok, we can still get to the end result through a different path. And even laugh along the journey.
Lets have some laughs along the way and whip up a not so spooky Monster’s Inc Inspired Cocktail to go along with watching Mike, Boo and Kitty on the big screen.
Ingredients and Barware (for one cocktail)
2 oz Hawaiian Punch Polar Blast
2 oz Coconut Rum
.5 oz Pineapple Juice
Purple Sanding Sugar (optional for rim)
Purple Striped Straw (optional but really does help add to the Sully appearance of this drink)
Vanilla Frosting for Rim (optional for rim but does help to get a good consistent coating of the sugar on the glass)
Cocktail Shaker and ice

About the Ingredients
Hawaiian Punch Polar Blast is filled with sweet tropical flavors, and its blue color is great for our Sully themed drink
Coconut Rum is a Caribean rum with a sweet coconut flavoring; often giving a tropical flavor, fitting right in line with our hawiian punch
Pineapple Juice adds a hint of tropical flavors and helps round out the perfect teal color for Sully!
How to Make
1.Take the rim of your low ball glass carefully through the vanilla frosting to get a consistent thin coating around the rim
2.Dip the rim in the purple sanding sugar. You may need to tap the sides of the glass to get excess sugar off. Add ice and set aside.
3.In a cocktail shaker add ice, 2oz Hawaiian Punch Polar Blast, 2oz Coconut Rum, and 1/2 oz Pineapple juice. Shake vigerously until well mixed and chilled
4.Pour over ice in rimmed low ball glass
5.Add Purple Striped Straw to really drive home the Sully feel! ( I used the puple ones from this pack!)
Enjoy Responsibily!
