Sonic the Hedgehog’s Tails Inspired Mocktail because sometimes two is better then one

Sonic the Hedgehog is often seen together with his kind hearted and loyal friend Miles Prower, who is known by his nickname Tails. The lovable little fox leans into his unique feature of having two tails allowing him to fly without the help of his plane when needed. For those who know Sonic, Tails is a household name as well as the second half of the dynamic duo. Did you also know that his name of Miles Prower is a play on words for miles per hour? Fits perfectly in the world of the super speedy hedgehog!
This Tails inspired non alcoholic drink features an orangey color with a white rimmer and is also speedy to make, just like the little fox himself. Playing off of Tails unique characteristic of having two tails, this drink features two garnishes.

Ingredients and Barware for 1 Mocktail
- 2 oz Orange juice
- 2 oz Lemon lime soda
- 1 oz Grenadine
- White rimmer
- Whole Orange
- Shimmer (optional)
- Martini Glass
- Cocktail shaker
About the Ingredients
Although orange juice is not as popular in drinks as it once used to be, it still provides an orangy flavor to this mocktail. And it’s the perfect color to mimic our beloved sidekick.
Lemon Lime Soda provides carbonation and just a touch of citrus
Grenadine is one of the densest drink mixes which allows it to settle on the bottom of the glass giving this drink the look of Tails’ red shoes.
White sanding sugar as the rimmer gives the drink the last color needed to really look like Tails.
Whole Orange is needed to make the garnish appearance of two “tails”. I mean, can you really make a Tails inspired mocktail without two tails?
Shimmer is optional but when added to this drink, it provides a shimmering effect (of course) that takes this drink to a whole new level.

How to Make
1.Rim your glass with white sanding sugar (Tip: using vanilla frosting can help to get a consistent and thick rim)
2.Add 1 oz of grenadine. Be careful to pour directly into the bottom of the glass. A martini glass is perfect for this drink as it allows the layered liquids to really pop, giving the illusion of Tail’s red shoes and orangy colored body
3.In a pour-able container or cocktail shaker, mix 2 oz orange juice and 2 oz lemon lime soda
4.Carefully pour mixture into glass without disrupting the grenadine (It can help to pour over the back of a spoon to limit the disruption of the bottom layer)
5.Garnish with Tails inspired orange. (see the garnish tips section on how to create this look!
Garnish Tips
1.Slice a ring off your whole orange about a quarter inch in thickness from the middle of the orange
2.Carefully cut the pulp away from the rhine leaving about a half of the white lining attached
3.Slice the orange peel in half about a third of the way down to give the appearance of two tails

Enjoy!
