The Lorax Inspired Mocktail

The Lorax Inspired Mocktail; “It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become” – Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax inspired non alcoholic drink

I think just about everyone has read at least one Dr. Seuss book growing up. It seems almost a right of passage to read those tongue twisters disguised as fun children’s books. I for one, have pretty wonderful memories of reading Green Eggs and Ham with my dad. Over and over when I was a little girl. And the How the Grinch Stole Christmas was an annual tradition to be read at Christmas time. But in all honesty, The Lorax isn’t one that I really remember reading or could have told you what it was about.

My son wanted to watch the movie The Lorax so we watched it. Quite accidently but very fitting, on Arbor Day. Now if you are not familiar with the story of the Lorax like me, it’s about preserving the environment. The Lorax speaks for the trees and helps inspire one young man to show an entire town the power of trees and fresh air. And the damage that can be done to the environment by humans.

Not just that one young man, but The Lorax has shown countless kids (and adults too) the power of nature and how important it is. And how we must all be like the Lorax and speak for the trees. Because as one of my all time favorite quotes from the Dr himself says,

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, its never going to get better, its not”-

-Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

In the Lorax, the trees are beautifully vibrant in pinks oranges and blues, just like most Dr. Seuss artwork. They are pillow-like and fun! They remind me of cotton candy! And you guessed it, this Lorax inspired non alcoholic drink is made with delicious cotton candy!

Enjoy The Lorax Inspired Mocktail, and be thankful for the wonderful, awe inspiring nature around us and when you’re feeling small always remember, Unless.

About the Ingredients

Lemon Lime Soda provides carbonation and a touch of citrus. Its light yet refreshing flavoring allows the drink to take on the flavor of the cotton candy in a refreshing way!

Cotton Candy is a unique candy in that it is formed by liquifing sugar and then spinning it causing it to rapidly cool and create a stringy type of texture. It is big at parties, theme parks and carnivals as watching it be made fresh is pretty cool! It can be found in many different flavors and colors.

How to Make

This mocktail is really very simple to make but it can get sticky quick! This drink cannot be prep made without losing its wow factor of pouring in the soda over the cotton candy.

1.Make sure your hands are 100% dry. If there is any form of liquid on your hands, the cotton candy will start to dissolve on your hands upon contact.

2.Place just enough Cotton Candy into each cupto fill each up most of the way full with lots of air. (I had store bought cotton candy vs fresh and so for me, it helped to pull the cotton candy apart a little to get the whispy look.)

3.Pour your Chilled Lemon Lime Soda into each glass. The soda will start to dissolve the cotton candy upon contact and change the color of the liquid to that of the cotton candy itself.

4.Place a small amount of Cotton Candy over your Black and White Striped Straw to mimic the look of a Truffula Tree and carefully place into your glass.

Garnish Tips

To get the look of the Truffula Tree, take a decent amount of cotton candy and place it over the top of the straw. Then slowly begin to pull it apart just enough to get the airy look. This can be a bit tricky to find the right balance of airly look with stability on the top of the straw. While you can make the trees ahead of time, be cautious of where you store them as any contact with liquid and they will start to dissolve.

Enjoy!
